Direct Relief to Haiti

Last year I had the opportunity to start working work with an extraordinary non-profit organization based here in Santa Barbara, Direct Relief International (www.directrelief.org). Their work worldwide, and most recently in Haiti, is truly impressive. Many of you may not be aware of this, but 100% of funds donated to Direct Relief for Haiti will be used exclusively for programmatic activities related to Haiti only. Not one penny will go to pay for administrative fees, overhead costs, fundraising events, or for other programmatic activities in other places.

I am truly humbled and honored to work with an organization like this one.

Direct Relief is responding with shipments of medicines and medical supplies that are reaching local health partners to treat earthquake survivors.
Direct Relief emergency response staff are on the ground in Haiti, providing expert logistics assistance to other relief organizations to coordinate delivery of medical and nutritional supplies.
Direct Relief has been working with health partners in Haiti since 1964.
Direct Relief has provided nearly $60 million (wholesale) in medical material assistance to Haiti since 2000, focusing on primary health care and basic medical supplies.
Direct Relief’s response efforts are fast, involve local partners, and are coordinated with other international organizations and governmental authorities to ensure the most efficient use of resources. My favorite way to decorate during the holidays is with real greenery. This Rosemary wreath is adorned with miniature Ojai Pixie tangerines and cinnamon sticks. Rosemary represents rememberance , prayer and love. Nice home made gift for someone who may be missing a loved one over the holidays. Smells nice too!

The new wedding stamp will debut sometime around May 11th (after the postal rate increase) and comes with a coordinating stamp for the response envelope, too! Nice alternative to zazzle.com, especially if you are looking to save a little. Who isn't?

The 2009 Wedding Cake stamp is being issued at the two-ounce mailing rate in order to accommodate the heavier weight of an invitation. In addition, the price covers other mailings such as oversize cards or small gifts that require extra postage. The stamp depicts a three-tier wedding cake topped with white flowers, their green stems and leaves a delightful contrast to the cake’s creamy white frosting. The cake was photographed by Renée Comet of Washington, DC.

Once upon a time in Beverly Hills . . .

There was a princess bride named Runya who married her true love, Jason.
Event designer, Ariel Yve, who specializes in fantasy weddings, made this bride's fairytale wedding come to life at the historic and luxurious Beverly Hills Hotel, also known as the "The Pink Palace." I just loved working with this wedding theme and it was so much fun designing everything from the invitations to the sweet custom cupcake boxes. Check 'em out!

Customized invitations were designed around the brides colors of black and pink. The design elements were used to keep the old Hollywood feel of the hotel. A touch of glamour was added with a small Swarovski crystal on the top. Subtle and elegant!

The bride was absolutely stunning is this Kenneth Pool gown.

As favors, each guest was treated to a cupcake to take home for a late night snack. I just love how these adorable custom to go boxes turned out! So fun and the guests loved them!!

A sweet box of Truffles from Jessica Foster puts the finishing touch on this table setting.

A fun alternative to the standard wedding album is this: 'Write a message of Advice, a Wish or a Prediction.' Guests loved this, and the couple will be able to keep these sentimental and meaningful notes forever.

Throughout the property we placed romantic signs for guests to read as they wandered around the serene Hahn Estate.

Dia de los muertos is Nov. 1 and 2.

The Day of the Dead (Día de los Muertos in Spanish) is a holiday celebrated mainly in Mexico and by people of Mexican heritage (and others) living in the United States and Canada. The holiday focuses on gatherings of family and friends to pray for and remember friends and relatives who have died. The celebration occurs on the 1st and 2nd of November, in connection with the Catholic holy days of All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day which take place on those days.

It's an honor and privilege to work with the talented and very creative wedding planner, Alexandra Kolendrianos. All of her weddings and events are extraordinary! This wedding took place over the summer at the exclusive Hahn Estate in Montecito, California. I love the combination of colors--so fresh and vibrant. Alexandra and I had so much fun working together on the details of this lavish wedding. Lush apple greens combined with neutral tones set the stage for a romantic and rustic vineyard wedding celebration for Nick and Danielle. We created this gorgeous vintage style monogram for the save the date cards, invitations and favors, and for the table cards, Danielle surprised Nick by naming each table after his favorite guitars. They were a hit! Both the bride and groom work in the music industry, so of course they treated their guests to an unforgettable star-studded event! This was my first opportunity to work with the talented Tonya Szele of Soigne Productions, who was the mastermind behind this beautifully detailed celebration! Take a look . . .

Without a doubt, the most creative and unique wedding of the summer. I was thrilled to work with this amazing couple. As the Historic Riviera Theater as the background, we went with a 'Vintage Theater' look. Getting the website up was the first step, www.delongvarbel.com
Upon arrival, guests were welcomed in the concession area of the Theater for with "Popcorn & Champagne." Popcorn boxes were cleverly doubled as the programs, which read as a playbill. Next, doors opened to the theater for a short film montage made about the bride and groom. The ceremony itself played out like a theatrical production with spotlights and special effects. So dramatic! Amy and Jonathon had so much fun planning their wedding, I can only imagine what a great life they will have together!

'Decandence' was the word of the day when bride and event planner Ariel Yve married Joseph Danchisko. No detail was left untouched, and Ariel's inspiration of colors gold and pinks could be seen throughout the ceremony and reception. Look out for this wedding on 'Platinum Weddings' on the Oxygen channel, airing January 11, 2009.

New Territory
